This game is all about your character team. In Marvel Strike Force teams are built with characters from your roster. Your Roster (found on the left of the main menu screen) contains all the characters. Unlocked characters can be viewed but are grayed out.
There are currently 69 characters, 35 heroes/villain and 34 minions.
Characters are divided up in many subgroups in the game, allowing certain roles and requirements for certain missions. Every character has a Class Type (Hero/Villain, Minion), Power Type (Bio, Mystic, Skill, Tech), and Role Type (Protector, Support, Brawler, Blaster, Controller). Heroes also have an Association. Such as Avengers, Mutant, or Ravanger.
Class Type. All heroes are either a hero/villain, or a minion. The main difference is minions have only 2 abilities available, while heroes/villains have 3 or more. Some missions require either a hero or villain character. In this case minions are assigned to the appropriate side.
Role Type. Character roles are extremely important for team building and tacticts. To win the match you can’t always just go in all damage. Team buffs, defense, and heals are often needed to get your team through the match. Characters are designated to these roles, for easier management. We will break more into this below.
Power Type. I have yet to see what difference this makes in game, along with associations such as S.H.I.E.L.D., avengers, mutants.
Hydra Rifle Trooper
Korath the Pursuer
Ronan The Accuser
Hydra Armored Guard
Kree Royal Guard
Mercenary Riot Guard
These characters buff and heal your team. Currently there are 13 Support characters.
